What are the benefits of celery?
Let's be clear: Celery is awesome! Celery contains impressive amounts of vitamin C and K, as well as folate and potassium, and studies show that celery may help to fight against cancer and liver disease, reduce inflammation (especially for brain-related diseases) and boost cardiovascular health. Let's also be clear that there is still more scientific studies needed to back this claim.
Have you heard about celery juice?
Research shows that drinking 16 oz of straight celery juice in the morning, on an empty stomach, may help your digestive system, support a healthy inflammatory response in the body (due to the phytosterol and unidentified polar substances), and heart health. Let's just say celery is great for supporting health overall. I personally enjoy celery juice at bedtime, a few hours after my meal.
Celery is a great source of fiber, when you juice celery you are removing the fiber. As long as you are using celery juice as a supplemental part of your diet, and not a meal replacement, and you are getting plenty of fiber in your regular meals, the lack of fiber isn’t a big deal.
With its ability to support digestion, celery juice also kicks one of the most pesky symptoms of digestion to the curb: bloating. Celery juice is an effective natural diuretic, and along with its ability to support flushing toxins out of the body, it may reduce bloated abdomens and edema, too!
Either way you look at it, it is a win-win situation. Whether you eat or drink your celery, you are receiving some of natures purest forms of natural nourishment.
