A Taste of Tanzania: Mchicha
After having recently spent time in Tanzania climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, William brings back with him several recipes he discovered on his travels. Today, we are happy to share with you Mchicha!
Mchicha is a traditional dish in Tanzania made with spinach, coconut milk, and peanuts. Mchicha is available today on our Hot Bar. Look for it in our Deli's To Go case this month.
Tanzania is an East African country, home to Mount Kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain in Africa and the highest free-standing mountain in the world. Tanzania is known for it's vast wilderness and infamous Serengeti National Park, home to elephants, lions, leopards, buffalo, and rhino. About 90 percent of Tanzanians live in the rural areas and live off what they can grow on the land. How is that for being in touch with nature!
Over 100 languages are spoken in this country. In addition to its immense areas of wilderness and rural landscape, Tanzania abuts the Indian ocean with its mainline coast. The clear waters reveal a spectacular array of marine life such as turtles, whales, sharks and coral reef.
